Less server work, more room to grow
Five server improvements reduce repeated work for nearby ships, bank updates, private messages, saved progress and busy markets.

- Nearby ship and NPC updates use a spatial lookup while keeping the same visibility, party and combat rules.
- Bank updates reuse unchanged grouping information, and private updates find their intended players with less repeated searching.
- Large saved worlds need fewer repeated ownership checks. Progress is still saved durably before confirmation.
- Busy Market reads return the requested page and your own orders and mail. Small markets retain the existing fast path.
Verified live on 24 September 2026 at 19:13 UTC. Controlled local 50-player trials used about 5–7% less median server CPU. They did not establish a consistent improvement in update latency over the network.
The current world limit remains 50 players. Tests of individual functions at larger sizes do not certify capacity for 300 or 1,000 simultaneous players.
The worker-process experiment was slower and was excluded. Items, combat balance, map, calibration and client version remain unchanged.
